Machine Operator ($750 Sign-On Bonus) (Job Number: 190794W-01)
DuPont Pioneer has an exciting opportunity for Machine Operators to join our company at our sunflower crop Woodland, CA production facility. In this role, you will perform a variety of tasks associated with general plant operations, field activities, and maintenance that will evolve with each season throughout the year. You will be responsible for setting up and monitoring highly automated equipment for various processes such as harvest, conditioning, sizing, treating, and packing.
During peak season (August-April) the Woodland production plant runs a 24/6 or 24/7 schedule based on demand. Shift hours rotate and can be 8 to 12 hours depending on which schedule is utilized. Shift schedules include weekend hours during 24/6 and 24/7 production schedules. Schedules are based on demand and vary during different parts of the year.
Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Harvest activities such as preparation, drying, stabilization, pre-cleaning etc.
Conditioning and packaging activities such as sizing, gravity operation, treating, bagging, palletizing, etc.
Preventative maintenance tasks on machines and equipment
Return and rework activities
Field management activities such as field inspections, isolation management, and field maintenance
Warehousing activities including forklift operation, collecting samples, pooling, etc.
Gathering data for future aid in continuous improvement projects
Various other duties as assigned by supervisor
The following are required:
High School diploma/GED
Minimum of one year of on-the-job experience in manufacturing, production, operations, agriculture or related filed OR an Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study
Must possess a valid driver’s license and may be required to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) in the future
Willing and able to work in a variety of areas (field, plant, warehouse)
Willing and able to climb and/or work in elevated areas; standing and sitting for extended periods
Willing and able to work both outdoors and indoors in hot, cold, wet and dry conditions
Willing and able to lift up to 50 lbs. and complete work that involves repetitive motion and/or repetitive lifting with or without reasonable accommodation.
Willingness and ability to work overtime hours including weekend work required during seasonal peaks
Maintenance and equipment repair experience
Written and verbal English fluency
Strong computer and computer programs skills
The following are preferred:
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles such as 5S, Continuous Improvement and Standardized Work are a plus
Knowledge of production agriculture and production plant operations desired
Knowledge of field equipment desired
Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills
