Job Description

TheRotational Program in the Specialty Products Division is an early careerprogram for approximately 60-80 engineers and supply chain professionals. Theprogram attracts talented, diverse and highly-motivated early-careerprofessionals as a source of renewal and long-term talent development withinthe Division and intended separate Company. Program participants are placed in a series of2-3 year assignments with the expectation of exposing the participants to newcareer, growth and development opportunities in each rotation.

The Rotational Program Center Lead is a member of the Community of Practice (COP) Council for the Rotational Program along with the Program Manager and a business lead from each of the five Specialty Products businesses. This role is involved with the recruitment process, planning and developing rotations within the Leveraged Operations and Risk Management organization, building participant capability, and coaching and networking with the program participants’ direct managers so the participants can meet their long-term career goals and the business’ needs.

The Center Lead should have experienced some of the typical positions held by participants such as MT Engineer, Operations Supervisor, or Project Engineer. The Center Lead must maintain successful relationships with participants and their leaders, and the rotational program business leads.

In this role, the Center Lead will gain valuable development for future assignments including:

The Rotational Program Center Lead is a member of the Community of Practice (COP) Council for the Rotational program along with the Program Manager and a Business leads from each of the five Specialty Products businesses. This is a critical position within the overall program with responsibility in the following key areas:

Leveraged Operations and Risk Management(LO&RM) – Serve as the “business” lead for the LO&RM organization. Establish and maintain relationships to serve the LO&RM organization to meet resource and training needs:

  • Understandingpriorities, budgets, demographics, current/projected issues/strategy to identifyareas for improvement within the rotational program

  • Activelymanage LO&RM rotations and participants

  • Facilitatemovement for rotations across businesses and to/from LO&RM

  • Managethe resource forecast, for the LO&RM rotational program

Leadership – Facilitate rotational planning for 60-80 program participants:

  • Instillthe importance of Core Values in early-career engineers

  • Oversee participants in LO&RM, providingcareer coaching, mentoring, and representing them in rotational planning

  • Facilitateplacement of participants with business leads - both rotational and careertransfer. This requires excellent interpersonal skills and being able to relateto diverse engineers’ and business’ situations

  • Supportparticipant’s direct managers, as needed, to perform administrativeresponsibilities, approvals and support the participant’s ’s career development

  • Balanceparticipant and business needs during rotation assignment planning

  • Advocatefor rotational program participants, balancing business needs with participantdevelopment goals. This requires understanding and application of program andbusiness policies and principles to reach consensus

  • Travelexpectation of 15-40%. Travel is key to face-to-face communication with bothbusinesses and recruiting activities

Recruiting & Hiring – Support recruiting, hiring and on-boarding of candidates fitting Rotational Program requirements, directly impacting the quality of the Specialty Products workforce and the company’s ability to meet its business targets. Recruiting activities include:

  • Develop and execute a yearly recruitmentstrategy that consolidates program hiring forecasts, and determines level of screeningand interviewing at university campus(s), career fairs, professional societies,and diversity conferences (may take lead role, 2-4 campus trips/year)

  • Coordinate interviewing and hiring decisionsas well as placement of Rotational Program candidates

  • Guide participants and business leadsthrough relocation and assignment start-up

Training and Program Support – Support the Rotational Program through continuous simplification, improvement, and automation of work processes as well as personal development by:

  • Assist in/lead training for participants (NewEmployee Seminar /Annual Development Meeting)

  • Develop Rotational Program training programand work with the CoP to leveraged the training program to all early-careerengineers

  • Assist in/lead mentoring of RotationalProgram participants

  • Design Professional Track Plans and contentfor LO&RM tracks

  • Support COP Members in the use of programtools, gathering data, and providing data analysis

  • Developing,update, and maintain career development tools for participant use

  • Eitheran Engineering Degree or a working knowledge of the engineering roles in SpecialtyProducts Division

  • Experiencein typical positions held by Rotational Program Participants such as MTEngineer, Process Supervisor, Project Engineering

  • Highlevel of organizational skills, initiative, and flexibility

  • Demonstratedinterpersonal skills and proven ability to effectively interact with andvalue people

  • Marketing– ability to build brand value for recruits and program value to thebusinesses

  • Effectiveteam player and ability to organize and lead through influence.

  • Demonstratedoral and written communications skills.

  • Demonstratedability to influence and negotiate with all functions/levels in theorganization.

  • CustomerFocus - proven ability to listen and follow-up on business partner needs.

  • GreenbeltCertified

  • 6-10 years, direct multi-SBU/function experience a plus
