Operations Business Process Consultant (Job Number: 191995W-01)


DuPont’s Spruance site is seeking an experienced leader with mechanical aptitude to fill our Solvent Recovery Business Process Consultant role (BPC). The person in this position will be responsible for developing and leading a team of approximately 20 employees and will ensure safe, continuous and efficient production in desired quantity and quality. In addition, the person in this position will be accountable for establishing and meeting fixed and variable cost objectives, capital execution of projects, and TAR execution. This position requires a wide range of management and technical skills and a thorough understanding of plant chemical processes, systems, policies and procedures. This positions supports a 24/7 operation and will be expected to be on call and willing to work various shifts to meet business needs.   • Drive culture change and build teamwork to achieve top Quartile performance.

  • Develop and implement improvement initiatives. Lead review meeting process to identify gaps and ensure resources are engaged in closing gaps.

  • Track and understand unit costs – fixed and variable.

  • Initiate and lead RCFAs for production or safety incidents

  • Responsible to represent area in supply chain development of weekly production plans to meet business needs, and reporting weekly area performance versus these plans.

  • Responsible to develop daily/weekly/monthly production strategy details to keep shifts aligned and operating to meet the production plans, through daily communications.

  • Responsible for evaluating performance vs. plan and addressing performance or planning issues as needed to achieve business goals.

  • Ability to use influence management to keep all shifts aligned with the operation plan.

  • Safe, timely, and cost effective execution of area Turnarounds(TAR/shutdowns)

  • Responsible for environmental equipment and reporting

  • Title V, Mon Mac, LDAR, FRA DOT

  • Produce and communicate the plant Weekly/Monthly Production Reports.

  • Responsible for PSM and Environmental leadership

  • Responsible for maintaining major and minor raw material supplies for the assets

  • Ability to develop thorough understanding of chemical processes and provide relief support of area Production specialist and First Line Manager (FLM)

  • Must be trained as a lockout supervisor and confined space supervisor

  • Must have ability to pass respirator fit test

  • Must be able to write lockouts, work orders, work permits, line break permits, hot work permits

  • Proficiency in SAP

  • Must be able to read P&ID’s



The following are required:

  • Bachelors of Science (BS) degree in engineering preferred (will consider at least 5 years of experience leading and developing a team or as an influence leader in an industrial/manufacturing environment).

  • Demonstrated ability to create a respectful work environment where everyone can contribute to their full potential.

  • Demonstrated experience in setting goals and maintaining data metrics to drive decision making and improvement.

  • Self-starter with good organizational and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to lead, develop, coach and mentor others.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead people and enforce strong safety standards while meeting operational business needs.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the elements of Process Safety Management

  • Demonstrated ability to operate and troubleshoot manufacturing processes, either through hands on experience or experience as ATO

  • Experience with safety processes and systems including safety improvement processes, audits and developing safe behaviors; SHE knowledge/experience

  • Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communications.

  • Demonstrated ability to use management tools such as Microsoft office

The following are preferred:

  • Leadership experience in an industrial environment

  • High Hazard experience with solid background in PSM

  • Union Experience

  • SAP Experience

  • Continuous Improvement Background: Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certified/Lean Manufacturing Methodology Knowledge
