Cyrel ® Process Engineer/ Product Sponsor (Job Number: 019150W-01)
Cyrel® is a family of printing plates that is used in flexographic printing. Cyrel® is the leader in the flexographic printing business. The Product Sponsor/Process Engineer in the Manufacturing Technical group works on continuous improvement of the quality of the Cyrel® product family for which they are assigned. The Product Sponsor/Process Engineer is focused on product performance at the customer’s shop and recommends and implements changes to the process and testing to meet the customer’s CTQs. The Product Sponsor/ Process Engineer will coordinate with the Process Engineer/ATO when there are performance issues or changes are requested that have a process cause or requirement change. This position is responsible to the manufacturing organization in meeting business objectives.
Provide technical support to plate production lines when assigned Product Family is being run.
Troubleshooting process issues on production lines.
Use Six Sigma methodology to implement programs to improve quality and product performance at customers.
Work with multifunctional teams to assure plate production is meeting trade requirements in quality and uniformity.
Monitor production performance and act proactively to correct trends or changes in product performance that would be viewed as differences in the field (sensitometric problems, adhesion, durometer, etc.).
Analyze and review product performance annually at Quality Review
Track and manage critical X’s in order to assure first quality product and good manufacturing performance.
Work on projects to improve yield, quality, reduce cost, and improve production uptime.
Lead quality investigations, as assigned, from customer complaints or defects.
Technical link between Business and Process Engineer.
Develop a fundamental understanding of how the chemistry of our products affects manufacturability.
Develop a fundamental understanding of how the process elements affect product performance at the customer
Use that fundamental understanding to continuously improve the production process and work with R&D to improve product development.
Provide manufacturing inputs for new product / process developments including on line trials, and leading manufacturing evaluations during appropriate phase of new product development
Provide on call support to manufacturing for product/formulation/process issues/concerns when assigned family is being run.
Degree(s) in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering and/or Chemistry/ Materials.
SAP knowledge or background.
Experience in process/product development.
Good problem solving ability.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Six Sigma trained.
Self-motivated to identify problems & issues and then develop programs to correct.
Understand ISO registration requirements
Quality focused on VOC, internal & external, needs
Be able to troubleshoot issues on production lines quickly and with minimized downtime.
Be able to work with operators and Engineering to solve problems on production line.
Implement programs to improve process and production conditions.
Implement programs to improve product quality.
Product quality and functionality at the customers’ shop.
Production line technical issues.
