Position Summary

Has global responsibility for delivery of learning technologies including LMS implementation, training/technical support, system administration, governance. Responsibilities include: planning, identifying, recommending and educating Stakeholders about the technical aspects of the Learning solutions. Sets Stakeholders’ expectations of application functionality, monitors and assigns day-to-day tasks to direct reports, trains/mentors COE team members, and has overall accountability for technology-related project management. Additionally, contributes to providing voice of the internal Customer feedback to Learning COE and Suppliers to inform future features and enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage strategically important implementation projects from pre-purchase through completion of initial customer deployment. Effectively communicate requirements for these projects to functional departments (HR Operations, IT, Sourcing, Finance, etc.), assist with negotiating timing of deliverables and bridge the communications gaps that occur between business unit/functional departments and the internal Customer. Provide learning Leadership with project status information.

  • Assist with analysis, selection, and design of learning technologies and major customizations.

  • Understand upcoming software releases and features, major customization efforts, and LMS integrations from the business and technical perspectives. Provide guidance to Learning COE to assist in setting realistic Stakeholder expectations related to future deliverables.

  • Provide support on highly technical implementation issues when interfacing with Suppliers which may arise during pre-sales or at renewal time.

  • Gather and document business requirements for new functionality. Work with Stakeholders, Suppliers, and IT during the design and implementation phases of any initiative.

  • Contribute to programs and procedures to improve Stakeholder satisfaction.

  • Assists with vendor management from the contractual, integration, and implementation perspectives.

Key Requirements

The Technical Learning Consultant is accountable for the daily administration of the LMS including the:

  • loading of courseware, assessments, and curriculums

  • building of custom and scheduled reports as required across the enterprise

  • maintenance of the global user data base, organizations, and permission of user roles

  • design of user interfaces (in collaboration with Suppliers)

  • mapping of organizational learning needs to system functionality

  • troubleshooting of issues while providing administrator and (Supplier) end-user technical support

  • creation of technical requirements for LMS customizations and integrations

  • facilitation of LMS implementations and documentation of technical guidelines for minor administrators

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.

  • Minimum of ten years of prior work experience in a Supplier organization or as a key consumer of learning solutions in a multi-national environment.

  • Previous implementation of Learning Technologies, Training, and Development projects required.

Technical/Functional Competencies:

  • Prefer PMP certification.

  • Strong understanding of web development technology, preferably in asp and .net Microsoft IIS deployments. Some knowledge of web services preferred.

  • Good understanding of relational databases, preferably MS SQL.

  • Previous experience with deployment and administration of a LMS preferred.

  • Success record of managing technology integrations across disciplines (learning technologies, HRIS, etc).

  • Conceptual understanding of server and hosting network infrastructure including server farms.
