Ink Formulation, Principal Investigator, Digital Printing (PhD) (Job Number: 017239W-01)


The primary responsibility of this role is formulation development for new inkjet inks for the Digital Printing industry


  • Develop new inkjet inks for various print-head platforms for the textile and commercial markets

  • Spearhead new technology platform development for next generation digital inks

  • Work within an interdisciplinary technical team to define dispersion and polymer needs for the ink developments

  • Work with project leaders, customers, and development partners to define performance targets and program objectives

  • Provide technical leadership to deliver against program milestones and regulatory compliance initiatives

  • Engage with Sourcing, Manufacturing Technology, and Operations to ensure successful scale-up for commercial manufacturing

  • Work with internal partners in Marketing, Technical Service, and Sales as well as customers and external partners to drive successful commercial product launches

  • PhD Degree in Chemistry or related fields, such as Chemical Engineering

  • 3-5 years of experience in inkjet ink chemistry and/or coating formulations

  • Experience with aqueous pigment-based ink formulation is preferred

  • Experience in one or more of the following fields is highly desirable

  • Interfacial science

  • colloid/dispersed systems or particle science

  • pigments

  • color science

  • polymer synthesis and rheology

  • Experience with HPLC, IR, IC, ICP, GPC, GCMS, and LCMS techniques

  • Motivated self-starter with good organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Versatile team player – ability to work on multiple projects at once; willingness to learn new things

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
