This position is responsible for all facility management / operations activities associated with stand-alone office and laboratory locations. The Facilities Manager may handle one or more large sites, or several smaller locations and the role is focused on ensuring employee safety, well-being and productivity; facility functionality, cost effectiveness and aesthetics; and the right-to-operate within the community.

This position will be responsible for Specialty Products Division offices and laboratory sites in the Central United States.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Develops and implements managing processes to ensure a safe, secure and healthy work environment per standards and applicable codes

  • Ensures there are predictive, preventive, reliability, and reactive maintenance programs in place

  • Interacts with appropriate business team leaders to understand future space and facility needs, overall tenant satisfaction with facilities

  • Conducts and documents routine facility audits and inspections, complete with corrective actions and follow-up to correct deficiencies

  • Connects with internal and external resources to identify and implement best practices to improve the tenant experience and facility efficiency

  • Implements energy conservation, recycling, and other programs to reduce environmental footprint and improve operating costs

  • Prepares facility and services budgets, tracks and manages actual operating expenses to deliver competitively priced office and laboratory facilities

  • Responsible for approving and reconciling additional expenses which may be incurred in addition to base lease costs

  • Understands the capital management process and ensures there is a 5-year facility reinvestment plan (capital and cost), monitors and supports implementation of plan elements, including prioritization of projects to accommodate potential budgetary constraints

  • Participates or has appropriate team members participate in capital project front-end loading, commissioning, turn-over and acceptance

  • Ensures timely and quality service delivery by employees, contract partners and other suppliers

  • In leased facilities, works closely with the landlord, Real Estate representatives, site business leadership and other stakeholders to ensure facilities services are being delivered to meet business needs

  • Coaches, councils, develops and leads the facility team at locations within his/her responsibility

  • Actively is involved in any supplier relationship management program

  • Ensures there are appropriate emergency response and business continuity plans and resources in place

  • Leads local community outreach programs and engages corporate government affairs contacts to ensure excellent external relations and our “right to operate”

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering, Environmental Science, or Business preferred) or 5 years’ experience in facilities management

  • Strong analytic skills, with a process-oriented mindset

  • Understanding of Six Sigma, Lean and other continuous improvement methodologies (Six Sigma certification preferred)

  • Facilities operations knowledge (e.g., maintenance, site security and outreach), contract administration knowledge and understanding of environmental requirements associated with commercial and industrial locations is required

  • Working knowledge of DuPont Policies, Standards and Guidelines (Engineering, SHE, HR, Sourcing, Governance/Finance, etc.)

  • Comfortable and competent in dealing and communicating with internal and external stakeholders

  • Ability to network, build, maintain and leverage relationships (internal and external) to achieve and improve upon, desired results

  • Delivers and implements solutions; able to influence and negotiate to develop consensus and agreement on key decisions

  • Proven ability to manage employee and team performance

  • Demonstrated organization and planning skills

  • Possesses business acumen; competent in developing budgets and managing costs

  • Able to review and understand contract and lease documents

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills

  • Independent, self-starter

  • Position requires domestic travel, approximately 20%-30% of the time
