The Operations Manager role represents a unique opportunity to lead the Cedar Rapids Operations team at our large scale bioproducts facility with a strong focus on people development and leadership. As a member of the plant management team, this role will utilize your technical background and people management skills to lead the Operations team and effectively deliver on people, product and process performance. In this position, you will be responsible for leading the Operations team to ensure safe, continuous and efficient production in desired quantity and quality. The Operations Manager will interact with the Global Supply Chain organization for coordination of schedules and understanding of customer needs. In addition, you will be accountable for establishing and meeting fixed and variable cost objectives and creating the expectations associated with operating the facility in a safe and highest ethical manner.
Lead the Operations team to effectively manage and support the overall plant objectives and organizational culture
Provide leadership to direct report employees along with facilitating career development, performance goals and feedback discussions
Establish effective communications systems focused on transparent sharing of information and engaging employees in the success of the facility.
Support the overall site priorities in the areas of technical assumptions, total quality, operational excellence, continuous improvement and culture/employee development.
Understand and support DuPont and IB strategic initiatives
Proactive participation in global IB Operations team, ensuring collaboration, sharing of learnings and implementation of best practices
Performance Management and organization of resources (goal setting, performance management, recognition and rewards, feedback, coaching & counseling)
Promote and support continuous improvement processes (GMP, ISO, PSM, Safety and Health, Environmental, Quality and Work System)
Lead, promote and encourage the development of social and technical skills within the operations area fostering a high performance work system/culture
Manage the overall PO expectations for the Operations area
Establish operational priorities and focus, ensuring safe operation of the facility, operational discipline and plant cleanliness
Responsible for overall staffing in the operations area focused on the acquisition, development and retention of our talent in the organization

Bachelors Degree in Chemical/BioChemical Engineering or a related technical
5 plus years supervisory experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment. This would include a deep understanding of process theory and equipment utilization.
Must possess exceptional interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and has demonstrated performance as a member of successful teams.
Must be able to lead in a collaborative, engaging nature welcoming input and team work
Experience with safety processes and systems including safety improvement processes, audits and developing safe behaviors.
Previous responsibility in managing a budget and understanding fixed/variable cost performance drivers
